 Flux Removal

Subject

Machining oil removal of stainless steel, anodized aluminum, plastic, and brass

Equipment 

2 sonicor ultrasonic 600 watt, heated 5 gallon ultrasonic machines, and one hot air dryer

Chemistry/Solutions Used

OCS Ultrasonic Cleaner at a 20:1 ratio. This removed some of the anodizing and needed 10 minutes to remove the RMA flux 

 

Tests

it took 4 tests to complete this cleaning process. Parts were cleaned ultrasonically, rinsed in DI water, and then dried at 180°f. Parts were looked under a black light and appeared to be contaminant free.

In the past, RMA flux can only be removed in a timely manner at 119°f
